united in struggles & united in liberation

GABRIELA Oakland

The lettering for “long live international solidarity” comes from visuals created at our last GABRIELA Oakland retreat. We overlaid this text coming from the threads of a person weaving. We envisioned the weaver to represent bringing together different struggles. Weaving is cross-cultural and generally women’s work, which reflects our mass organization, led by women who organize for the liberation of women in the Philippines and around the world. The design sits on top of an 8 ray sun known as the Philippine sun, which can be seen on the country’s flag. It connects the imagery to the Philippines, and yet the sun is a unifying symbol that connects all of us living on this planet.
